Anna Fishbeyn (Playwright) began her career on the stage with a collection of essays entitled, Conversations With My Breasts, which she performed as a solo-show at Cornelia Street Café.  Her second one-woman solo show, Sex in Mommyville, played at the Flea Theater in August 2010. The show received rave reviews from WCBS Radio, Backstage Review, Flavorpill, Capital New York, Elevate Difference, and was recommended by culture.wnyc.org as the show not to miss. Ms. Fishbeyn transformed the solo show into a rich, multi-character play for its premiere at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, where it had a sold out run in the summer of 2011 and was extended for further performances in September, 2011.  Ted Merwin from The Jewish Week said, “The show...is a lusty, unbridled Russian Jewish updating of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House.”  Jeremy Gerard from Bloomberg News called the show “Furious” and said he would “…take her [Fishbeyn's] spleen over the sitcom slickness of Zach Braff's All New People.

Ms. Fishbeyn holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago, an MFA in Fiction from New School University, and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Ms. Fishbeyn's articles, such as, “Wall Street Makeover,” “The Silence of Jane Eyre,” and “The Miniskirt Dilemma,” examine the media-engendered pressures and socially acceptable double-standards affecting women and mothers today.  Her novel, The Matrimonial Flirtations of Emma Kaulfield, depicts a woman grappling with feminism, love and a splintered identity.
